Career tech students and volunteers from the Family Engagement Team leant a hand at the first Matthew 25 Outreach Center produce distribution held at Madison Comprehensive High School.

MADISON TOWNSHIP — Students, staff, and community partners came together to make a big difference for hundreds of local families.

Madison Comprehensive High School partnered with Matthew 25 Outreach Center and Greater Cleveland Food Bank to launch a new monthly food distribution program at the high school. The first distribution took place on Thursday, May 21, from 2:25pm – 4:00 p.m.

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank delivered 6,000 pounds of food, including fresh produce, canned goods, and other nonperishable items. Team members from Matthew 25 Outreach Center worked alongside school staff and students to sort, organize, and prepare the food for distribution. Members of the Family Engagement Team and students from the Auto Tech and Electricity programs also volunteered their time to help pack and organize donations.

In total, 250 families received food resources during the event. The program will continue each month on the third Thursday. The next food distribution is scheduled for Thursday, June 18.

Junior Destini Britt said her favorite part of the afternoon was “seeing students and staff working together to do something good for the school.”

Sophomore volunteer Bryant Caroll shared that helping provide food to families and seeing their happiness was especially meaningful. High school and middle school librarian Kate Darnell said she was inspired by how willing students were to help with something that could make a real difference in the community.
