Emma Lucille Heiser, 102, of Galion, passed peacefully on May 15, 2026, at Mill Creek Nursing Home.

Emma was born in Galion on May 6, 1924, to the late Herman and Clara (Thompson) Eichhorn. She would marry her loving husband Robert “Bud” Heiser on July 3, 1949, and they would share 64 years of marriage until his passing on July 9, 2013.

Emma was a proud graduate of Galion High School, Class of 1942. Throughout her working years, she was employed by Stratbury Overcoats, Egner Trucking, and Urban Industries, where she dedicated herself faithfully to each role she held.

Emma found great joy in knitting and was gifted with remarkable talent and patience. Over the years, she lovingly created countless socks, sweaters, and afghans for family members and friends, each piece made with care and affection. Knitting remained one of her greatest passions, and she continued the craft until the age of 101, when declining eyesight no longer allowed her to do so.

She also treasured the many memories made while traveling with her dear friends, Carl and Arlene Moore, and enjoyed countless weekends spent at Lake Erie with close friends Hugh and Erline Place at their cottage. Those trips brought laughter, friendship, and cherished moments that remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Above all else, Emma was deeply devoted to her family. She especially loved supporting Brett and took great pride in attending every event and activity he participated in, never allowing distance or inconvenience to stand in her way.

Emma’s memories will be cherished by her daughter: Nancy (Ken) Green of Galion; grandson: Brett (Jill) Green of Grand Rapids, OH.; and great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Henry.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Emma was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Mildred) Eichhorn and Herbert (Evelyn) Eichhorn; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Fritz (Ethel) Heiser, Paul (Faythe) Heiser, Grace (Oran) McMahan, Kenneth (Dorothy) Heiser, Jim (Ellie) Heiser, and Jim’s first wife, June Heiser; as well as her dear and longtime friends, Arlene (Carl) Moore and Erline (Hugh) Place.

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the First United Church of Christ; 248 Harding Way W. Galion. The funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Chris Buckingham-Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Church of Christ, or the Mill Creek Nursing Home Activities fund, in care of the funeral home.
