MOUNT VERNON — Clear Fork and Mount Vernon took the top two places in the boys and girls divisions at the Jackets Invitational on Friday at Yellow Jacket Stadium.
Clear Fork scored 153 points on the boys side, followed by Mount Vernon’s 141.
On the girls side, Mount Vernon placed first with 146 points to the Lady Colts 111.
Newark placed third in each division, with the boys scoring 125 and the girls scoring 79.
Rounding out the field for the boys is Centerburg (82), Fredericktown (5), Utica (41), East Knox (27), and Heath (22.)
On the girls side, Fredericktown finished fourth (77), then Heath (74), East Knox (63), Utica (59) and Centerburg (43).
The Colts racked up seven first-place finishes in the boys division and dominated the field events. Nash Evans won the long jump with a personal best of 21′ 11.5” and also won the 100 meters with a time of 11.04. Other individual winners were Nathan Rine, shot put 51′ 4.5”; Julian Mills, discus, 144′ 6.5”, and Davis Hoeflich, high jump, 6’4”.
The 4×400 relay team of Landen McKee, Marcus Hoeflich, Devyn Oswalt and Ethan Beck turned in a 3:28.39. In the 4×200 relay, (McKee, Oswalt, Beck and Aidan Haring) crossed the line with a 1:30.73.
The Jackets garnered six first-place finishes.
Brady Mills won the 200 (23.09) and 400 meter (50.30) runs for Mount Vernon. Calvin Heithaus ran a a 2:00.15 in the 800 meters and clocked a personal best of 4:25.03 in the 1600 meters. The 4×100 relay ran a time of 43.5, and the 4×800 relay turned in a 8:34.51.
Clear Fork’s Bly sweeps sprints
The Lady Jackets brought home four first-place finishes. In the field events, Nadia Nougi won the long jump with a jump of 16’10”. Pole vault went to Kennedy Howard (11’6”).
Juliet Boyd, Nadia Nougi, Savannah Rose, and Danaisa Best clocked a 4×100 relay. Lucy Rush won the 3200 meter with a time of 10:51.01.
The Lady Colts won five events. Taylor Bly swept the sprints, winning the 100 meters (12.78), 200 meters (26.10), and 400 meters (personal best of 56.99).
Bly also anchored the winning 4×400 meter relay team of Katie Beck, Quinn Stover, and Asia Bechtel.
Bechtel also won the high jump at 5′ 0”.
The East Knox Lady Bulldogs set two school records on Friday. The 4×200 team of Ava Faucett, Ellie Clark, Macie Faucett, and Isabelle Bostic ran a 1:44.51.
Cloe Tucker joined Clark, Macie Faucett, and Ava Faucett in the 4×100 relay, clocking a time of 51.32.
