FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — A Fredericksburg woman was killed after a collision on Thursday afternoon in Wayne County, according to the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Emma Miller, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities stated.

The incident took place at approximately 3:58 p.m. on Harrison Road, approximately 0.2 miles west of Nonpariel Road.

The preliminary investigation indicates a red 2013 Ford F-350 pickup truck and a black Sun bicycle were both traveling westbound on Harrison Road. The bicyclist attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway without signaling while the Ford F-350 was attempting to pass on the left.

The collision occurred near the center line of the roadway.

Miller, who was operating the bicycle, was not wearing a helmet or reflective safety equipment at the time of the crash, the Patrol stated.

Fred Hostetler, 68, of Shreve, was operating the 2013 Ford F-350. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Assisting at the scene were the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, South Central Fire and EMS, 3 Sons Towing, and the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
