Raymond “Ray” Eugene Scott, age 84 of Delaware, Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at his residence.

Ray was born on June 23, 1941, in Mt Gilead, Ohio to the late Ralph Scott and Ruth (Peoples) Mosher. Following Ray’s graduation from Iberia High School in 1959, Ray went to work for General Motors for 31 years. He was a tool and dye machinist and later became a committeemen.

Ray married his wife Rebecca (Shrader) Scott in November of 2001, enjoying nearly 25 years of marriage together.

In his spare time, Ray loved training and driving harness racehorses. He was known as the “horse whisperer” by some of his friends and colleagues, Ray has a soft approach that could calm any horse. Ray also always was active in going to the Little Brown Jug and Scioto Downs.

Ray also enjoyed collecting arrowheads and he had a passion for learning about Native American history. He also was a member of the Crawford Beagle Club in the 60s and 70s. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting & fishing whenever he could.

Ray was most proud of his role of being a father and a grandfather. Ray was a man of few words, who was honest, hardworking, with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by so many.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents Ralph Scott and Ruth (Peoples) Mosher.

Raymond “Ray” Eugene Scott is survived by his wife Rebecca “Becky” Scott; sons Ryan Scott (Lindsay) of Palm Beach, Florida, Chris Scott of Brambleton, Virginia, and step-children Matthew LaFrance of Delaware, Ohio; Jennifer Kagarise of Delaware, Ohio, Amber LaFrance of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and Kimberly Messenger of Marion, Ohio; brothers Warren Scott (Sharon) of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Charles Scott (Patty) of Johnsville, Ohio, and Robert Scott of Morrow, Ohio; sisters Diane Rogers of Warren, Ohio, and Pat Smith (Terry) of Ontario, Ohio; grandchildren Alexandria Scott, Sienna Scott, Koryn Kagarise, Chloe Kagarise, Victoria LaFrance, Adaria Marlowe, Andrew Bruhnsen, Madison Bruhnsen, Draven Messenger, Lachlyn Gunnell, Jackson Cordell, Savannah LaFrance, Madeleine LaFrance, and Violet LaFrance; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Service details to be announced.
