GALION — Emory Main had three hits and Kurt Hay drove in two runs as Galion knocked off Shelby 6-5 in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference action Monday at Heise Park.
The Tigers (2-0, 1-0) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good. Landyn Prosser singled and knocked in a run in the inning.
Trey Fricke had a pair of hits for Galion. Kane Hay doubled.
Grady Crim went the first five innings for the Tigers. He gave up five runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
Kury Hay picked up the win in relief. He worked the final two inning, allowing one hit.
Nate Lykins led Shelby with three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Cole Dorsey had two hits and drove in a run, while Kaleb Stairs knocked in a pair.
Conner Hartz took the loss for the Whippets (0-1, 0-1). He allowed two hits and two runs in two innings.
