Samuel S. Kinkade, age 80 of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 20, 1946, in Madison, West Virginia, to the late Charles R. and Juanita (Ball) Kinkade, and on September 3, 1966, he married the love of his life, Frances (White).

Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, and he worked for several years as a coal miner before retiring from a long career as a long-haul truck driver. He was a 32nd degree Mason with his lodge, Shiloh Masonic Lodge No. 544, and a member of Hanna Road Church of God. He is remembered for his amazing hugs and his infectious laughter, and he never met a stranger. He was always in the kitchen cooking, and he was known for his meatballs and delicious coleslaw. He loved his grandchildren dearly, and he adored the family poodle Colby.

Sam is also remembered for his love of old Westerns and Christmas movies year-round. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and working the gates for the Richland County Fair every year. Ever since he went into the hospital in May, he looked forward to his granddaughter Maggie sneaking him in Uncrustables.

He was a fighter. He was always there for his family, a rock for his wife and daughters, and he will be so dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances Kinkade; his daughters Lora (Christopher) Love and Evonna Kinkade, as well as Evonna’s friend, family, and caretaker, Emily Stanley; his siblings Albert Kinkade and Silba Griffeth; his grandchildren Kyle (Spencer) Grover and Maggie Love; his great-grandchild Zosia Grover; his sister-in-law Delores Parson; his sister- and brother-in-law Dean and Sue White; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Juanita Kinkade.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield.
