Thomas “Tom” D. Martin passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2026. He was 75.
He was born on June 29, 1951 in Mansfield, Ohio to George and Doris (McClelland) Martin. After graduating from Madison High School in 1969, Tom went on to attend the University of Akron before enlisting in the United States Air Force.
Tom proudly served his country as a career military man, retiring from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. Following his military career, he held several different jobs before finding his way to the Buckeye Imagination Museum, where he discovered what would truly become the joy of his life. Tom had a keen interest in history and movies and was known for his impressive knowledge of both. As his brother fondly put it, “Regarding history and movie trivia, he would be my ‘phone a friend.’” Tom also faithfully attended the YMCA, making it a regular part of his routine.
He is survived by his brother Jack (Laura) Martin, nieces Joni (Johnny) Boyd, Amanda (Jeremy) Buskirk, and Abby (Jamin) Hughes, and eight great nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents George and Doris Martin.
Memorial contributions can be made in Tom’s honor to the Buckeye Imagination Museum to help support the children he held so dear.
Tom’s life will be celebrated privately by his family with a graveside service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
