MANSFIELD — Richland County Youth and Family Council and local partner agencies are once again joining forces to bring warmth and support to families this Thanksgiving through the “Doing Good Together” initiative.

Now in its second year, the collaborative effort aims to provide 400 Thanksgiving food boxes to households across Richland County.

The Youth and Family Council serves many Kinship families, grandparents or relatives raising children due to circumstances related to abuse or neglect, as well as families of children with developmental disabilities.

Partner agencies are also seeing a rise in requests for food assistance from older adults in the community.

“Doing Good Together” is a local supplemental food program that provides Thanksgiving meal essentials to county residents. Items included in the boxes are:

  • Frozen Turkeys
  • Corn (canned)
  • Green beans (canned)
  • Stuffing mix
  • French fried onions
  • Boxed macaroni and cheese
  • Boxed potatoes (mashed or scalloped)
  • Gravy (packets or jars)
  • Other Thanksgiving fixings (cranberry sauce, etc.)

This partnership between Richland County Youth and Family Council, Richland County Children Services, the Mansfield Police Department, and the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Inc., and Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center reflects the true spirit of the holiday season – support, connection, and community.

Richland County residents can pre-register for a food box through Nov. 4, 2026, by calling Richland First Call 2-1-1.

Pick-up will be at Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center at 890 W. 4th Street in Mansfield on Monday, Nov. 23, at pre-determined pick-up times.
