Morris Edward “Bud” Porter, age 77 of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 24. 1949, in Mansfield to the late Peter Edward Porter and Audrey Bernice (Parsons) Porter.
Bud graduated from Lucas High School in the class of 1967. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and he went on to retire from ManCI in 1999, where he was known by coworkers as “Chicken Gravy.” He was a member of Galion Unity Freewill Baptist Church, and he loved his three boys more than anything. He was a man who freely spoke his mind, and while he didn’t care if he hurt your feelings or not, he would absolutely give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Porter of Mansfield; his children Stephanie Hoffer of Bellville, Jason (Kitty) Porter of Shiloh, John Porter of Bellville, Daniel (Brittney) Porter of Mansfield, Matthew (Britteny) Porter of Mansfield, and Alysha Johnson of Galion; his brothers Roger Porter of Lucas and Mike Porter of Mansfield; his beloved furbabies Kylee, Duke, and Merle; and numerous grandkids and great-grandkids, as well as a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Audrey Porter and his first wife Tami (Harvey) Porter.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Services will take place at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
