GALION — A 22-year-old Galion man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stabbing another man during an argument that escalated into a fight near the Church Street overpass, according to Galion police.
Gavin Bloomfield of 325 Fairview Ave. was arrested on a charge of felonious assault and taken to the Crawford County Justice Center, according to a news release from Galion police Chief Ryan Strange.
Galion police officers responded early Thursday to a report of two men fighting near the Church Street overpass. While officers were enroute, dispatchers received additional information stating one of the men had been stabbed.
Officers found the victim in the 200 block of North Liberty Street, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical services personnel transported the victim to Avita Health System Galion Hospital. He was reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators said an ongoing argument between the two men turned physical, at which point a knife was drawn and the victim was stabbed multiple times. Responding officers apprehended Bloomfield and secured the suspected weapon at the scene.
The case will be forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for review of additional charges, the chief said.
