Cynthia Rae Ridenour, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and woman of many creative talents, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, following an extended illness.
Cynthia was born in Mansfield, to the late Arl Williams and Jean Lyme Williams. A proud graduate of Madison High School in 1965, she was a member of the marching band, where she played the clarinet. Her love of learning continued throughout her life. She graduated from Kent State University and later earned her master’s degree in education from Ashland University.
For 40 years, Cindy dedicated herself to educating children through the Mansfield City Schools. Teaching was more than a career for her—it was a way to make a difference in the lives of others. Even after retirement, Cynthia continued to stay active and involved, serving as an activities director for the Muskingum Pleasant Hill Lake Watershed.
Those who knew Cindy will remember her as a creative and artistic woman who could make something special out of the simplest things. She enjoyed creating homemade jewelry and crafts and took great care in making personalized birthday and holiday cards for the people she loved. She was an avid reader and always found enjoyment in a good book.
Above all, Cindy treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in the time spent with those closest to her and leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to be cherished.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Ridenour of Butler; her son, Matthew Colegrove of Butler; grandchildren, Dylan, Paige, Kylee, Lexie, and Mattie; stepdaughters, Andrea Ridenour and Karrie Ridenour; and step-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Emma.
In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Williams.
Private graveside services will be held in Bellville Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
