MANSFIELD — The Richland Carrousel Park will soon create an evening built around inclusion, community and rides for all.
Amplix is set to host its fifth annual Special Needs Carrousel Event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 9, at the Richland Carrousel Park, 75 N. Main St.
Organizers will modify the carousel to accommodate the special needs community. Attendees also will receive unlimited rides on the carousel, and refreshments will be provided.
Accommodations include lowering the music and dimming the lights for a more sensory-friendly experience. A ramp will also be available for people using wheelchairs or walkers or those who need mobility assistance.
For those attending, this event fosters a sense of belonging and shared purpose within the community.

Amplix, formerly known as the Hastings Group, has sponsored the event at the Richland Carrousel Park for five years.
Jeremy Murphy, senior support specialist with Amplix, said he wanted to do something meaningful for the community. He approached his employer with the idea for the event.
“They embraced the concept, and together we have successfully hosted the event every year for the past five years,” Murphy said.
The event provides a direct way to live out the company’s commitment to community empowerment, Murphy said.
He added it strengthens the company’s partnerships and reinforces its brand as a trusted, active contributor to local well-being.
Last year’s event drew more than 80 members of the Mansfield special needs community, and organizers expect this year to exceed that number.
Joyce Wells, CEO of Richland Carrousel Park, said they remain dedicated to offering unique events tailored to a diverse community.
“Our mission at Richland Carrousel Park is to provide wholesome, accessible entertainment for our local community and visitors from around the world,” she said. “These events bring joy to our visitors, with many families returning annually as part of a cherished tradition.”
Wells said they are committed to making each guest’s visit as enjoyable as possible.
“Our team deeply enjoys working these events, making them a rewarding experience for everyone involved,” she said. “If you have any questions, concerns or special requests during your visit, please do not hesitate to ask any staff member for assistance.”
“For those attending, this event fosters a sense of belonging and shared purpose within the community,” Murphy said.
He added he is excited to not only contribute his time this year, but also to learn from others’ experiences and build lasting relationships that go beyond the event itself.
