Dear Lexington Community,
Aa past Lexington School District Administrator for 30-plus years and a proud 1967 Lexington graduate, (both my wife and myself), I thank you for your past support of Lexington Schools in academics, arts and athletics.
When called upon in the past you have risen to the challenge of financial solvency, passing with your positive vote new as well as renewal levies.
I ask that once again as our district faces fiscal challenges brought about by current legislation and rising costs, that each voting community member make themselves knowledgeable of what is being asked of you before casting your ballot this November.
A renewal levy which incurs no additional cost to you as a homeowner — it’s a .75-percent income tax only on your Ohio Adjusted gross income which for many retired and senior citizens, which I am now one, will require no additional out of pocket financial obligation.
Find out for yourselves what is taxable and what is not when it comes to you personally.
Ask yourself how these two issues will affect you and your family financially now and in the future.
The future may include the sale of your home and in the past why did you move into the Lexington School District?
Could it possibly have been you wanted your children to have an excellent education?
More importantly though you need to ask yourself what will the future look like for the students who are in school now and those who will be entering school in the future in the areas of academics, arts and athletics, which all of us take great pride in.
If you have questions or concerns, find out where you can get answers before casting your ballot in November. The Lexington Board of Education office and talking with the Superintendent or the Treasurer would be a great start.
I know them both and they will give you honest and straight-forward answers to any questions you may have regarding both issues.
