It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Joseph Daniel Hermel, of Mansfield, on September 25, 2026. He was 53 years old.

He was born on September 27, 1972 in Mansfield, Ohio and raised by parents Deb (Hermel) and Mark Marvin. Growing up in the area he attended and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School with the class of 1990.

Joe was a true jack of all trades who could fix just about anything that needed fixing. Throughout the years, he worked in several factories and took pride in being a good mechanic and a dependable handyman. There was very little he wouldn’t try to repair or figure out, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. In his free time, Joe enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He also had a special love for animals and children, always showing them patience, kindness, and affection.

Above all else, Joe loved his family. He was a kindhearted man with a generous spirit who never hesitated to help others. His willingness to lend a hand, his love for those around him, and his caring nature touched the lives of many. Joe had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and he was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His family and friends will forever remember him for his hardworking nature, his helpful hands, his love of fishing and animals, and most of all, the deep love he had for his family.

He is survived by his parents Debra and Mark Marvin, brother Chris (Randi Thomas) Marvin, nephews Troy “Tickle Toes” Marvin and Kristian Yeager, aunts and uncles Greg (Kim) Marvin, Paula Harris, Lynn (Dara) Marvin, Syndra (Gary) Puckett), Mike Puckett, and Cliff Chandler, fishing buddy Mark Campbell, as well as several cousins and extended family members.

Joe is preceded in death by his grandparents, uncle Keith Marvin, grandfather Bill Puckett “Muttley”, and great-grandmother Hermel “Jove”.

The family will be celebrating Joe’s life privately, and encourage you to remember him in your own special way.
