Connie Hollon was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. She was the steadfast, dependable matriarch her family could always depend on. Running the household, raising her children and supporting her husband…sacrifical, that was Connie. Her loving hands are now at rest. Constance Kaye “Connie” Hollon, 85, passed away peacefully, September 22, 2026 at Primrose Retirement Community following an extended illness.
The daughter of Kermit and Doris (Bender) Atterholt, Connie was born October 19, 1940. As a teenager, she enjoyed marching as a majorette, for both Loudonville and Bellville High Schools. She later graduated from Central High School in Columbus.
It was at a Bellville football game that Connie first met Richard “Dick” Hollon. That meeting began a lifelong partnership, and the two were married September 12, 1957. Together, they built a family and a life grounded in loyalty, hard work, and love.
Connie found great purpose in caring for the people she loved. She taught her children and grandchildren simple lessons that stayed with them: treat others as you want to be treated, accept people as they are, and never be afraid to laugh at yourself. She was patient and loyal, always present and invested in the lives of her family.
A proud and supportive mother and Nana, Connie made it a point to cheer from the sidelines at her childrens’ and grandchildrens’ sporting and school events. She encouraged them to participate and do their best, but never added pressure or stress. She simply wanted them to enjoy themselves and have fun. A faithful Ohio State sports fan, Connie also cheered for the Cleveland Browns and Indians. And if she couldn’t be at a Lexington Minutemen game in person, she was often listening intently on the radio.
Connie was also Dick’s greatest supporter as he pursued his own career and opened Hollon Art Service. She stood beside him and provided the encouragement and support he needed to build a successful business. They worked together as partners in life and enjoyed the simple pleasures along the way, including day trips to Lake Erie and vacations along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Some of Connie’s favorite times were those when her family gathered together. She especially treasured Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day celebrations. She loved having her family together and creating the kind of memories that would be carried forward long after the dishes were put away. Connie loved to garden, to read, her dogs, and a good milkshake. She had a great sense of humor.
Connie’s life was not measured in grand gestures, but in a lifetime of quiet devotion to her family. She was there when her family needed her, cheering them on, offering encouragement, and lending a helping hand.
She is survived by her children Rick Hollon of Columbus, Mary Beth Irwin of New Albany, and Michelle Graser of Highlands Ranch, CO; granddaughters Elle (Adam) Young, Eliza (Dan) Gleason, and Madelyn (Austin) Tanner; great grandchildren Birdie, Grey, Kit, James, August, and Bennett; brother Mike (Angie) Oyster; a sister-in-law Sophia Goldsmith and brother-in-law Frank Hollon; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Hollon and brother Larry Atterholt.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11am in Bellville Cemetery. The Bellville Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve Connie’s family. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
