NEW HAVEN – A Willard man died Sunday after a two-vehicle crash on Sept. 16 in Huron County, according to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Edwin Lynch, 74, of Willard, suffered serious injuries at the scene. He was later flown to Cleveland Metro Hospital where he was pronounced deceased on Sept. 20.
The crash happened at the intersection of State Route 61 and State Route 103 at 10:15 a.m. in New Haven Township.
The preliminary investigation showed a 2018 Toyota Tundra, operated by Lynch, was eastbound on State Route 103. Lynch failed to stop at the posted stop sign at State Route 61 and struck a north bound 2025 Mack Pinnacle Semi Truck, operated by Eric Smith, 35, of Mansfield.
Smith was not injured in the crash. Mr. Lynch and Mr. Smith were both wearing their seat belts.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Willard Fire Department, North Central EMS, Cleveland Metro Life Flight, and White’s Towing.
The intersection was temporarily closed for approximately one hour during the
investigation. The crash remains under investigation.
