Dan Dickman peacefully left this earth on Friday morning, September 18th with his life partner and soul mate, Cliff Edwards and sister Debbie Arquette by his side.
Dan came from a large family with five siblings: Deb, Doug, Dan, Diane, Dawn, and Denise. Dan was preceded in death by his parents – Wilbur and Mary Lou Dickman and an entourage of pets including Socks, K.T., Tina, Taco, Sadie, Shasta, Arnie, Moo-Moo, and Boopie. He is survived by his life partner Cliff, their chosen daughter Jenny (Cliff’s sister), and their infamous, and very protective dog, Maggie. He is also survived by all of his siblings and their families, our extraordinary friend Monica Phillips, our extended Candlewood family, JFS family, Catalyst family, Center Street family and our dear Peace Fellowship family. There are so many friends who just became family because of Dan’s innate welcoming and compassionate spirit.
Many came to know Dan from his early days in Mansfield – serving as Father Dan at St. Peters Catholic Church. For the past 35 years he has devoted his efforts as the creator and director of Success Unlimited programs, where his efforts have helped countless people with recognizing and pursuing their greatest potential. Dan was also an adjunct professor at North Central State College and also taught classes for the Mansfield reformatory.
Dan and Cliff extend a special note of gratitude to their exceptional care team – led by Dr. Lindsay Clark, Dr. Laura Weakland, Dr. Abu, and Dr. Hays. Much gratitude to Bertha and all of the kind and compassionate staff at the infusion center, Janel and the IR team, and Tammy the patient navigator. You were all companions to us and brought so much comfort and joy during this arduous journey.
Dan leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness and deep devotion to his community. The void he leaves behind is tremendous and will be felt by so many.
We remember and celebrate the story that Dan Dickman has written, the lives he has touched and the many ways he made this world a better place. The impact Dan has made will continue to reverberate through our lives and communities.
Calling hours will be held Thursday September 24th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Grace Episcopal Church – 41 Bowman Street – Mansfield, Ohio 44903. Brief calling hours will resume Friday September 25th at 10:00 am with funeral services to be held at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a contribution to the Daniel L. Dickman memorial trust that is being established to support Dan’s ongoing legacy of instilling hope and possibilities to all those he encountered.
