MANSFIELD – The Richland County Prosecutor’s Office recently released to Richland Source its most recent list of indictments.

The majority of the indictments are drug-related charges, including possession of cocaine or fentanyl-related substances. Other alleged offenses cited in the indictments involve conduct with minors, assault and attempted murder.

Teen charged with attempted murder

Nineteen-year-old Dominick Crose is charged with attempted murder and felonious assault after an altercation in March at a commercial establishment on Springmill Street.

“There was a person at the store who walked into this commercial establishment. (He) appeared to be there for normal business-type things when he was approached by the suspect,” Richland County Prosecutor Jodie Schumacher said Thursday.

“A fight had ensued … and then our suspect and victim run out of the store, and then (the) suspect begins shooting at our victim as he’s running across the roadway.”

Much of the altercation was caught on video, implicating Crose as the suspect, Schumacher said.

Joshua Conley, 39, was indicted on charges of grooming, engaging in prostitution, tampering with evidence and trafficking in persons for commercial sex acts.

Texts between Conley and a juvenile victim, whom he knew personally, revealed inappropriate conversation and Conley’s attempts to pay the victim to perform sex acts, according to the prosecutor.

Conley was reported to authorities by the victim’s mother after the victim shared information about Conley’s actions.

“Based on the content within the text messages … that is the basis for the grooming charge,” Schumacher said. “We allege that he’s trying to normalize certain acts to the victim.”

Douglas Lee Cordray, 62, a Mansfield resident, is charged with 14 counts of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person and four additional counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in a nudity-oriented material or performance.

“This is from an ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children task force program) report … identifying certain images that could be child sexual abuse material (CSAM),” Schumacher said. “Further investigation had identified several images that would stand to be labeled in that way, with at least eight of the victims being known.”

ICAC reports find images on the internet – on platforms like social media – that could be deemed CSAM, flagging them for investigation.

“When we get a report saying ‘known victims,’ that just means now in today’s day and age we’re not referencing AI (generated images),” Schumacher said.

Chase Metzger, 35, of Plymouth, faces similar charges. Metzger faces 22 counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in a nudity-oriented material or performance.
