Joe McCartney, 55, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Galion Avita Hospital. He was born on June 23, 1971, in Galion, Ohio, to the late Duane and Anita (Floyd) McCartney.
He graduated from Colonel Crawford High School and attended Pioneer Technical School, where he studied auto body repair. He began his career at Angelini’s before later working at Ron’s Body Shop.
Joe married his beloved wife, Leesa (Shultz) McCartney, on July 9, 1999. Together, they shared 27 cherished years of love, laughter, and countless treasured memories.
He had a passion for gaming and especially enjoyed playing DayZ. He also had a talent for working with computers and took great pride in building his own computer from the ground up. He enjoyed spending his free time immersed in his favorite games and exploring his interests in technology.
Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his wife, Leesa, his siblings, Brian McCartney, Brett (Kelly) McCartney, and Denise DeLong; his in-laws, Lee Shultz, and Debbie McClarren; his mother-in-law, Ann Shultz; numerous nieces and nephews; and his favorite niece, Rachel DeLong.
Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, Duane and Anita McCartney.
