Richard Shepherd

Richard Shepherd, age 83, of Shelby, passed away on September 2, 2026, at Crestline Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born on September 14, 1942, in Prestonburg, Kentucky, to the late Boyd and Oma (Shepherd) Shepherd. He worked for the Shelby Auto Call for over 15 years before going into business for himself and opening his own janitorial business, Shepherd’s Janitorial.

Richard was a lifelong believer in Jesus Christ and avid church visitor. He attended Elm St. Freewill Baptist in Shelby for many years. Above all else, Richard was a family man. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and would do anything for them. He will be missed by all that were blessed to have known him.

He is survived by his three sons, Stephen (Stephanie) Shepherd, Scott (Margeret) Shepherd, Shannon (Sarah) Shepherd; numerous grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and 7 siblings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Shepherd, who passed away in 2001, two brothers, Charlie & Grady Shepherd, and sister, Patty Cooper.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Oakland Cemetery with pastor Ron Conn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made at Elm St. Freewill Baptist Church in Shelby at 41 Elm St. Shelby, Ohio 44875.
