Reverend Paul David Young, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and retired Pastor, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026. He was born on July 5, 1934, in Circleville, Ohio to Kenneth and Ruth Young.
Paul was a graduate of Circleville High School, Capital University and received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Evangelical Theological Seminary in Columbus on June 9, 1961.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to his family and to the many people whose lives he touched throughout his years of ministry. Paul was a pastor for many years, faithfully serving the parish of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Recovery, Ohio/St. James Lutheran in Salamonia, Indiana; Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Canton, Ohio and Peace Lutheran Church in Galion, Ohio. He also provided ministerial support to Trinity Lutheran in Circleville, Ohio and St. John’s Lutheran in North Woodbury, Ohio.
Paul married the love of his life, Marilyn (Miller), on July 9, 1961. Paul is survived by his children: son Michael Young (Jennifer), daughter Lisa McManes (Jason), and daughter-in-law Laurie Young; his grandchildren: Andrew Young (Ericka Hughes), Grace MacLennan (Cody), Olivia Shoupe (Adam), Jackson Young (Sarah Furrow), Zachary Young, Colton Young, and Piper McManes; and his siblings: sisters Carol Smitley and Doris Young, and brother Gary Young (Deidree).
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ruth Young; his brothers, Richard and Ronald Young; his granddaughter, Haley Young; and his son, Jason Young.
Paul will be remembered for his kind spirit, his steadfast faith, his love for Marilyn and his family, and the many lives he touched through his years of pastoral service.
His earthly journey has ended, but the love he gave and the legacy he leaves behind will continue in the hearts of those who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26th at First Lutheran Church in Galion, Ohio. The family will receive guests at 1pm with the service starting at 2:15pm.
