Eddie Michael Keen, 73, of Lexington passed away unexpectedly Sunday August 23, 2026 at OhioHealth Hospital Mansfield following complications from congestive heart failure.

The son of Herchel and Eunice Keen, Eddie was born June 7, 1953 in Mt. Gilead and graduated from Northmor High School. Eddie was a hard hitting, standout football player for the Northmor Knights, recruited by colleges as a defensive lineman. Not only athletic Eddie was intelligent as well. Gifted with a photographic memory, he was a trusted resource for all kinds of questions. Those who knew Eddie were used to hearing the phrase “just ask Ed”, because he really did have the answers. He never forgot dates, birthdates, names or places. He could comment on almost any topic that was brought up with precision.

While Ed was still in high school, and along with his father and brothers Keen Well Drilling was started. The business was sold and renamed Keen Well Drilling of Mt. Vernon where Ed continued working alongside his uncle for 25 years. Most recently Ed worked for the City of Mansfield in the Water Department retiring after 20 years. Even into his retirement, Ed would receive calls from former coworkers who loved the fact that they did not have to pull up a map to do a job, they just called Ed to reference water lines.

Ed loved his family and valued his friends. He had a special bond with his baby brother Roger, nephew Roger Jr. and great nephew Noah. Ed will be missed dearly by his loved ones and friends especially by those who knew and appreciated his quick wit and sarcastic humor.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife Kathy Chillimi Keen; parents Herchel and Eunice Keen, and brothers Bill and Roy Keen

Left to cherish his memories are his brother Roger and sister-in-law Dolores Keen; nephew Roger Keen Jr and his wife Brittany Keen; great nephew Noah Keen; foster brother Larry Simmons; and very special friend Barb Grant; as well as his many cherished friends whom he loved so much.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, August 28, from 5:30-8:30 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home.
