Glade D. Bachelder, 90, of Mt. Gilead, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Glade was born in Mt. Gilead on March 4, 1939, to the late Harley and Mamie (Long) Bachelder.
Glade graduated from Johnsville High School in 1954. During high school, he played both basketball and football. He spent many years farming and raising dairy cattle. He also owned and operated Modern Vault Co. for 20 years. Glade was a bus driver for Northmor for 42 years before later working for Mid-Ohio Sanitation.
His commitment to his community was evident through his many years of service. Glade served as a Congress Township Trustee for more than 30 years, was a member of the Johnsville Fire Board for more than 20 years and served on the Morrow County Fair Board for 24 years, including six years as president.
In his free time, Glade enjoyed playing bingo and euchre at the senior center and watching NASCAR and football. He will be remembered for his hard work, dedication to his community, and, most of all, his love and devotion to his family.
Left to cherish Glade’s memories are his children; Tim (Jennifer) Bachelder and Diandra (Brandon) Moore; his grandchildren; Cody Bachelder, Lane (Lydia) Bachelder, Isaac (Kenzie) Wine, Alec Moore and Andrew Moore; and his great-grandchildren; Brantley Bachelder and Wrenlee Bachelder; and the mother of his children, Diana Bachelder.
In addition to his parents, Glade was preceded in death by his sisters, Colleen Nall and Marlene Williams.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Gompf Funeral Service – Galion Chapel, 303 Portland Way N. A service will immediately follow at 6:00pm with Pastor Jack Kegley officiating. The family will later observe a private burial at Shauck Cemetery.
