Jeff A. Rapp, 66, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2026.
Born on December 19, 1959, in Mansfield, Ohio, Jeff was the son of Ed Rapp and Dorothy Dripps. He graduated from Malabar High School and later earned an associate’s degree from North Central Technical College.
On August 20, 2001, Jeff married the love of his life, Lynn Welker. Together they shared a life built on love, faith, and dedication. Jeff was a devoted and loving husband whose quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering work ethic were evident in everything he did.
Jeff loved working with his hands and had a remarkable ability to build, repair, and improve just about anything. His greatest joy was remodeling alongside his father, creating lasting memories while learning skills he would carry throughout his life. He enjoyed woodworking projects, tinkering in the garage that he & Lynn built together, and took great pride in keeping his home and everything around it in excellent working order.
One of Jeff’s favorite pastimes was working in the yard. He found satisfaction in making it look as beautiful as possible and took pride in maintaining a welcoming home. He believed that caring for what you had was a reflection of the care you gave to those you loved.
During his younger years, Jeff attended Southside Christian Church, where he faithfully served in various leadership roles. He generously volunteered his time and talents to help maintain the church building, often assisting with repairs whenever needed. He also served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross, always willing to lend a helping hand to his community.
Jeff was an enthusiastic sports fan who faithfully supported the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also loved NASCAR, and his favorite driver was Jimmie Johnson. Beyond sports, he had a lifelong fascination with history and science. He enjoyed learning about World War II and could spend hours watching documentaries and reading several books on the subject. He was equally captivated by the Space Shuttle program, following launches and collecting facts about space exploration, and enjoyed building on his ever-growing model train collection. Music was another source of joy in Jeff’s life. He especially enjoyed country music, with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood among his favorite artists.
Above all, Jeff will be remembered as a hardworking, dependable, and caring man. He was always ready to help with a project, fix what was broken, or lend his knowledge and talents to family, friends, neighbors, or his church. His legacy is one of service, humility, craftsmanship, and love.
Jeff will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by those who welcomed him into eternal life including his parents, and brother and sister-in-law Theodore and Cathy Rapp.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn, sister Marcia, sisters-in-law Sharon Clinton and Ruth Welker, nieces Lisa (Bob) Moon, Mary Russell, Jenny (Chris) Lowery, along with his other family members and friends who will cherish his memory forever.
