Richard Garron, 66, of Savannah passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, following a long battle with cancer.
Richard, known to family and friends as Rick, was born on February 19, 1960, in Lodi, Ohio, the son of the late Frederick and Ruby (Kiser) Garron.
After a long career in construction, including time as a member of the Carpenters’ Union, he retired in 2014.
Throughout his life, Rick enjoyed caring for his lawn, riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and hunting for morel mushrooms while walking through his woods.
An avid football fan, he enjoyed watching college and NFL games whenever he could. The Pittsburgh Steelers were his favorite team, and he rarely missed the chance to watch them play.
He is survived by his three children, Jaymie Gollehon of Findlay, Melissa (Patrick) Laser of Akron, and Andrew Garron of Mansfield; his former spouse, Susan Garron, whose enduring friendship remained an important part of his life; and his two sisters, Kelly Mitchell of Springfield and Dena Kmetz of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Gina Walter.
Funeral services celebrating Richard’s life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Trudy Bates, Celebrant presiding. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Ashland County Cancer Association.
