On July 31, 2026, Cathy A. Ward, beloved mawmaw, mother, friend, and sister, completed her earthly journey while surrounded by her children. She was 63.
She was welcomed to eternal peace by her parents, Donald and Cynthia (Feliciano) Collins, and her son, D. Ryan Ward.
A loyal and true friend, Cathy cared deeply for the people she grew close to during her working years and later in retirement. Her unique blend of sass and obstinance endeared her to many, especially because she told it like it was and you always knew where you stood with her.
Outside of work, Cathy delighted in (read: mostly lamented) cheering on her Cleveland Browns, crafting and then decorating for EVERY holiday, and watching “her shows” – at 8:00pm you could find her with a Diet Pepsi in-hand (don’t ever take the last one!), snuggled with her dogs Mollie and Abbie and watching true crime, the Food Network, or the One Chicago Franchise.
Cathy’s real joy in life was found in her children: Stephanie (Ben) Hoffman and Timmy (Kelley Nalley) Ward and her three granddaughters: Amelia, Rhylee, and Charlotte. Tangible and limitless, her love will endure.
In lieu of a public service, Cathy’s family hopes that you will remember her, not with ceremony, but with a quiet moment, a favorite memory, or an act of kindness shared in her honor.
