MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Partners in Education Team will host a free, one-day professional development workshop on arts integration for educators and administrators on Aug. 6 in the Renaissance Theatre Ballroom.
The in-person program is a collaboration among the Renaissance Performing Arts Association, the Mansfield Art Center and Mansfield City Schools.
The $125 registration fee for all participants is covered by Charles P. Hahn, CFP, of Cleveland Financial Group. Additional support is provided by the Ohio Arts Council, Meijer Inc. and a grant from the Richland County Foundation’s Siebert Arts Fund.
Teaching artist, nonprofit leader, educator and strategist Kimberly Jarvis will lead two interactive sessions designed for K-12 educators and administrators. The sessions appeal to various learning modalities and can be taken together or as standalone workshops:
- Session 1: “Math & Science Movers Through Dance” (9 a.m. to noon): Explores movement-based strategies to help students physically embody and retain academic concepts through active learning. Participants will learn to integrate dance, spatial awareness, rhythm and kinesthetic exploration into math and science instruction to boost comprehension, engagement, collaboration and long-term retention.
- Session 2: “Storytelling Strategies & Literacy Connections” (1 to 4 p.m.): Focuses on interactive approaches to storytelling, creative movement, literacy engagement and narrative development. Through imaginative exploration and embodied learning, participants will learn techniques to strengthen sequencing, comprehension, communication and expressive skills while connecting movement, language and story structure.
Attendees will leave with practical movement-based and storytelling strategies that enhance student engagement and retention across STEM and literacy subjects.

Jarvis serves as executive director of the Buckeye Book Fair, a statewide literacy nonprofit that connects readers with authors across Ohio. Through her consulting practice, Arts + More Services, she provides solutions in communication, program design and strategic planning for schools, nonprofits and businesses.
An international choreographer, Jarvis uses her “Dancing from the Inside-Out” methodology to blend the arts with education, leadership and wellness initiatives. She continues to work in residence with schools throughout Ohio and is certified in storytelling-based community building, creative aging and health education.
Jarvis studied integrative arts education at Idrætshøjskole in Viborg, Denmark, and holds degrees and certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine, Malone University and The University of Akron.
She is certified by Narrative 4 in Building Community Through the Power of Storytelling and by Lifetime Arts in Creative Aging, which equips her with research-backed tools to support programming for older adults.
