Daniel Bottorf passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, due to complications of Parkinson’s. He was born on May 23, 1945, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Raymond and Edith (Winner) Bottorf. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School, Class of 1963, where he excelled in track and cross country. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn E. Woodard, in 1964.
During his career, Dan worked for Richland Printing for 36 years. He retired from Truax Printing after 10 years as an account executive. Dan belonged to the Richland County, Worthington and Westerville Chambers of Commerce. He served as the first President of the Woods of Polaris Condominium Association and went on to serve 10 years on the Board. He volunteered for the Cancer Support Community where he was named Volunteer of the Year for 2016. He also volunteered for the American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He was a member of the El Dopa Parkinson’s support group.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Marilyn E. Bottorf; two daughters, Angela (John) Borek of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Melissa (Jay) Schwegman of McKinney, Texas; five grandchildren, Shelby (Ian) Malott of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Izaak, Phoebe, Hope, and Annie Schwegman of McKinney, Texas. Also surviving is his twin brother, Dennis (Sue) Bottorf; sisters-in-law, Marilyn L. Bottorf, Marsha, Donna, Gaylea, and Eileen Woodard; brothers-in-law, Jon, Tony, and Tom Woodard; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends, especially Elmer and Carol Bomlitz and Barbara Cox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Phillip (Lynn) Bottorf, and Raymond (Becky) Bottorf; sister-in-law, Diana (Tony) Woodard; and brothers-in-law, Jeffrey and Gary Woodard.
Dan was a very talented artist. He especially liked to draw and paint birds that frequented his feeders along with aquatic birds and birds of prey.
The family would like to thank OSU Drs. Gordish, Brinkman, Mazzaferri, and Everette for their dedicated concern and compassionate care while taking care of Dan through his many illnesses.
As he dealt with all experiences in his life, Dan managed his illnesses with courage, perseverance, and fortitude. He had a love of family, friends and all things of nature.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 am at St. Peter Parish, 104 W. 1st Street, Mansfield. He will be laid to rest in Prince of Peace Cemetery, Mansfield, Ohio.
