Lois K. Reamsnider, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Knox Community Hospital. She was 81.
She was born on September 9, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to the late Thomas and Audrey (Jones) McKee. Lois was one of Thomas and Audrey’s sixteen children who grew up in the Butler area, and she graduated from Butler High School in 1963.
On August 7, 1965, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Reamsnider. Together they shared 52 wonderful years of laughter, love, and memories until his passing in 2017. Now they are reunited together again.
Lois devoted much of her life to serving others, whether in her community, her church, or through the simple acts of kindness that became her trademark. For 18 years, she was a familiar and caring presence at Butler Elementary, assisting Donna Turner and brightening the days of countless students and staff. She was among the first volunteers to drive the Butler and Bellville routes for Meals on Wheels and later served as a cook for the program, preparing meals with the same love and care she shared around her own table. Lois also spent 14 years as a cook at Camp Otyokwah in Butler, where she found joy in nourishing generations of campers and staff.
At home, Lois found her greatest contentment with her hands in the soil. She delighted in working outdoors, tending her yard and gardens, and preserving the fruits of her labor by canning and freezing fresh produce. An exceptional baker, she was well known for her homemade pies and desserts, which were always made with love and eagerly shared with family and friends. She was an enthusiastic fan of sports, faithfully cheering on the Clear Fork Colts, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cleveland’s professional teams. An original member of the Butler Lioness Club, Lois also remained deeply rooted in her faith as a longtime member of Salem United Church, now North Liberty Community Church. She loved the Lord, and her steadfast faith was reflected in the quiet compassion, generosity, and servant’s heart that defined her life. Above all else, her greatest joy in life were her boys Jeff and David.
She is survived by her sons Jeff (Sharon) Reamsnider of Fredericktown and David (Marcey) Reamsnider of Butler, siblings Linda, Sam, Dick, and Don, as well as many nieces and nephews, and special friend Nancy Strayer.
In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her loving husband Bob Reamsnider, brothers Jim, Clarence, Wayne, Roger, Stanley, Walter, Karl, and Bob, sisters Eleanor, Ellen, Marilyn, and Carolyn.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 5 to 7 pm in the Snyder Funeral Homes, Bellville/Butler Chapel. A funeral service honoring Lois will be held the following day, Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 11 am, also in the Snyder Funeral Homes, Bellville/Butler Chapel. Friends are welcome to visit the hour before. Burial to follow immediately after at Bunkerhill Cemetery. In the spirit of honoring Lois and her wishes, the family would like to invite those in attendance to wear their favorite casual attire.
