He graduated from Madison High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps and retiring from the Army National Guard. During his time in Boston, Massachusetts, he met the love of his life, Christine. They shared 49 years of marriage and built a life centered on family and service.

Following the birth of their first child, Roger and Christine returned to Mansfield, where Roger began a distinguished career with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his children, Christine Jenkins, Scott Paxton, Shawn (Amanda) Paxton, and Tyler Paxton; and his cherished grandchildren, Kameron Jenkins, Dakota Paxton, Wyatt Paxton, Brandon Paxton, and Knox Paxton. Nothing brought Roger greater joy than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking drives in his beloved Mustang and was always known for his quick wit, kind heart, and ability to make those around him smile.

Whether serving his country as a Marine, protecting his community through his career in law enforcement, or caring for his family, he lived with quiet strength, compassion, and integrity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Roger’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and friends at Mansfield Restaurant, especially Amber, Ashlee, Niki, Nanna, Emily, Lisa, Jackie, and Terri, for the kindness, friendship, and compassion they showed Roger and his faithful sidekick, Dakota. Your care and generosity meant more than words can express.
