Barbara K. Byron, age 87 of Lexington, Ohio passed away July 13, 2026 at home following an extended illness.
She was born on January 10, 1939 in Coeburn, Virginia (coal mining town) to the late James & Ruth (Ring) Kennedy. On January 31, 1959 she married Harold D Byron of Morehead, Kentucky at the home of her sister-in-law in Sandusky and they shared 41 years together. Barbara lived in Coeburn, Virginia until the age 13 then moved to Mansfield. Following her marriage she then moved to Lexington, where she lived out the remainder of her days.
She had worked for 30 years at Therm-O-Disc and briefly at HiStat. She attended Steams Corners United Methodist Church. Barbara loved quilting, taking trips to Michigan and Windsor to the casinos. Her proudest achievement was watching her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.
She is survived by Mark & Ann Byron, Brian & Brianna (Byron) Fulk, Ryan & Erika Hopkins, Sarah (Byron) Earhart, Gabe Volk, Adrian Volk and Everett Hopkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Byron and brothers, Vernon, Wayne and Terry Kennedy.
The family would like to thank Tressa and Krista from hospice for the care they provided to Barbara.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family.
