The News Man Weekly Podcast is brought to you by our friends at Relax, It’s Just Coffee!

MANSFIELD — Rasan Leathers clearly knows today’s metal music scene. Carl Hunnell clearly does not.
So the hostess of “She Shreads with Rasan” joins the old news man on this week’s podcast to help us preview the 2026 Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival coming up this weekend at the former Ohio State Reformatory.
On Episode No. 106, we are also joined by special guest Chris Kelly, well-known radio voice throughout north central Ohio.
The show starts with our crew of Hunnell, Kelly, Zac Hiser and Hayden Gray breaking down some news of the week, including why Ohio was named CNBC’s top state for business; the grand opening of Rural King in Ontario; and plans to transform a longtime Ontario eyesore into new community green space.
Hunnell even reels off off his Top 5 metal bands of all time. (Hint: None of them started recording in this century).
Then we welcome Leathers for an insider’s look at the heavy metal community and what makes Inkcarceration unlike any other festival in the country, including an expected audience totaling more than 75,000 over three days.
We discuss the rise of women in metal, how Rasan gets musicians to open up in interviews, the unique culture surrounding Ink and who we’re most excited to see.
We do our best to educate Carl on current metal culture, as well as convince him to attend the Ohio State Reformatory for the festival this weekend.
Don’t forget to check out the pre-party at Warehouse Tavern, which is free with an Ink wristband, on Thursday. Doors open at 5 p.m. and music begins at 6 p.m.
