Susan Kay Kuglin peacefully entered into the arms of her Savior on Thursday evening, July 2, 2026, surrounded by the promise of the eternal life she so faithfully believed in. Throughout her life, Susan’s unwavering faith, joyful spirit, and servant’s heart touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, encouragement, and love.
Born on July 22, 1952, in Bluffton, Ohio, Susan was the cherished daughter of the late James Edward “Pete” Gullett and Jeanette Eleanor (Rodabaugh) Gullett. She graduated from Arlington High School before following the example of her beloved mother by pursuing a career in education. Susan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Bluffton University, hoping one day to teach alongside her mother in the Findlay City Schools. When that opportunity didn’t materialize, God had another path prepared for her. She accepted a position with the Northmor Local School District in Johnsville, where she would spend the next thirty years inspiring young minds. For twenty years she taught fifth grade before finishing her career teaching sixth grade.
Teaching was never simply a profession for Susan—it was her calling. She delighted in watching her students grow in confidence and understanding, especially those unforgettable “aha!” moments when a difficult concept suddenly made perfect sense. She celebrated each child’s success as though it were her own and believed that every student deserved patience, encouragement, and someone who believed in them. Long after they left her classroom, many remembered Mrs. Kuglin not only for what she taught, but for how she made them feel.
While attending the Galion Church of the Nazarene, Susan met the love of her life, Dale Kuglin. Their shared faith formed the foundation of a beautiful marriage that began on April 9, 1977. Together they built a life centered on Christ, family, and serving others.
A lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, Susan’s faith was woven into every aspect of her life. She faithfully served at Mansfield First Church of the Nazarene in many capacities over the years, including music director, church secretary, pianist, organist, and soprano in the choir. Whether she was leading worship, accompanying a hymn, or quietly serving behind the scenes, Susan considered every opportunity a privilege to glorify the Lord she loved so deeply. Her steadfast faith was evident not only in her service to the church but in the grace, hope, and compassion she shared with everyone she met.
Outside the classroom and church, Susan embraced life with enthusiasm. During her college years she enjoyed playing volleyball and never lost her playful spirit, often joining her students for games during recess. She loved to read and was a devoted Avon representative for many years, enjoying the products herself and taking pride in always looking polished and professional whether she was teaching or out in the community.
More than anything, Susan will be remembered for the joy she carried with her each day. Her infectious laugh could brighten a room, her smile welcomed everyone she encountered, and her optimistic outlook reminded others to look for the good in every circumstance. She had an extraordinary ability to lift the spirits of those around her, offering encouragement when it was needed most and living each day with gratitude and unwavering trust in God’s plan.
Susan’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith in action—a devoted wife, gifted teacher, faithful servant, and treasured friend whose influence will continue to be felt in the hearts of the many students, church members, family, and friends who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her loved ones find comfort in knowing she has heard the words she longed for all her life: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
She is survived by her dear husband of 49 years, Dale Kuglin, his children Bryon (Chamelle) Kuglin and Kelly (Matt) Dornbirer, grandchildren McKenzie (Zach) Nickel, Owen Dornbirer, and Connor Dornbirer, great grandchildren Camden and Rosalie. Also surviving are her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dennis (Lucy) Kuglin, Randy Geiger, and Karen Geiger.
Friends may call Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 12 pm. Pastor Mark Dettmer will officiate and burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery near Findlay, Ohio.
