MANSFIELD: Selfless love is always costly; bravery expects it; faith requires it; and family never forgets it. Small in stature but strong of heart and fierce in her love, Silvana Rosmarin was a Mama Bear who protected her family, served as their advocate, loved them sacrificially, and gave of herself for them.
Silvana personified true Christian selfless love and kindness to everyone she encountered. Her devotion to education, her faith, and her family was unwavering. She passed into the Lord’s care Tuesday, June 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in her Mansfield home; she was 72.
Born Silvana Beatriz Brianceschi on May 31, 1954 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to parents Carlos A. and P. Ines (Fernandez) Brianceschi, her family moved to the United States when she was four. Always possessed of a determination to succeed, she taught herself English and signed herself up for kindergarten the following fall.
Her commitment to academic achievement continued throughout her entire life. Silvana graduated as Valedictorian from Malabar High School in 1972, and attended Smith College in Massachusetts, earning her Bachelors Degree in Chemistry in 1976. Her passion for education was not limited to her own success: she also developed roadmaps to help her sisters excel in high school and prepare for college.
After college, she earned her PhD in Physiology from The Ohio State University in 1981. Her intent was to continue into post-graduate academics, but she found her life taking a different path.
Silvana had accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 13 and never wavered in her faith. While at OSU working on her doctorate, she met a tall, handsome medical student in a study group. Initially she rebuffed his advances, as he was not a Christian (as II Corinthians 6:14 advises). Her commitment to the Lord led Phillip Rosmarin to commit his life to Christ, and eventually they began to date.
Shortly thereafter, she returned to Argentina to study under Dr. DeRobertis, a physiologist there, for 3 months. While she was in South America, tensions increased and the country became unsafe for Americans. After a harrowing escape to Chile, Silvana was able to return to the United States. She reunited with Phil and they were married August 29, 1980 in Resurrection Parish. She ended up defending her Ph.D. thesis in 1981 while pregnant with her first child.
She found a new calling in motherhood and turned her focus to pouring herself into their three wonderful children. She instilled into them her values of faith, family, and education. As they grew, she supported and guided them to success both in academics and in life. She modeled a life of compassion, selflessness, and kindness, both in public and in private.
As her children grew, Silvana found ways to continue her passion for education. She volunteered to teach Spanish at Mansfield Christian School, touching countless lives with her kind yet firm expectations for excellence. In 1999, she founded the Science Center at Richland Academy and served as its first director. She also taught in the nursing program at North Central State College and worked alongside her husband as office manager at his medical practice.
Throughout her life, she intertwined her faith with her love for children. While at Mansfield Alliance Church she was active with junior high ministry and the nursery. Later, Silvana became a member of Berean Baptist Church, where she served in student ministries and tutored inner city youth through the church’s KidZone program.
In addition, Silvana was a member of MENSA. She enjoyed sewing and smocking, and was an excellent cook; her milanesas, pastel de papas, and Argentine stuffing were incredible.
She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. Silvana carried a sweet, sweet spirit – giving of herself and putting aside her own needs and desires for the benefit of her family. She leaves a legacy as a demure, intelligent, and thoughtful woman – elegant and considerate, yet fierce and determined.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Phillip Rosmarin; their children Isaac Rosmarin of Hooksett, NH, Josiah (Briana) Rosmarin of Sebring, FL, and Maria (Kyle) Carpenter of New Albany; a grandson Theodore Rosmarin; two granddaughters on the way; sisters Veronica (Mark) Schuetz of New Albany and Andrea (Robert) Biedenharn of Loveland; and nieces and nephews.
Her parents preceded her in death.
The Rosmarin family will receive guests Tuesday, July, 7, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Dan Krause will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Silvana’s memory to Richland Pregnancy Services, may be made at the funeral home.
