Janet A. Calendine-Bolesky passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 87 years young.
She was born on March 28, 1939 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late James A. and Awretha M. (Straub) Walker. Janet was a lifelong member of the Mansfield community, where she was raised and proudly graduated from Lexington High School.
On August 15, 1957, she married Rudyard “Kip” Calendine, and together they built a loving life centered on family, faith, and friendship, sharing 55 wonderful years until his passing in 2013. She later found love again and married Ronald “Ron” H. Bolesky II on October 17, 2014, enjoying nearly 11 cherished years together. Janet devoted much of her professional life to nurturing young minds as the librarian at Lexington High School for many years before transitioning to a role caring for others as a surgical medical assistant and longtime hospital volunteer at MedCentral Hospital.
Faith played an important role throughout Janet’s life. In her earlier years, she was an active member of Lexington Church of Christ, where she faithfully served as a youth leader, pianist, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, and shared her musical talents by singing in the choir and various church groups. In later years, she became a longtime member of Mansfield Alliance Church. A woman who never met a stranger, Janet’s outgoing personality, vociferous spirit, and spontaneous nature made her the life of many gatherings. She found joy in the simple pleasures—casting a line while fishing, socializing with friends and family, and singing and praying whenever the opportunity arose. Janet proudly cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes, adored yellow roses, and never passed up a chance to wear or admire her favorite color, red. Possessing a legendary sweet tooth and an insatiable appetite for chocolate and ice cream, Dairy Queen was among her favorite destinations. More than anything, Janet loved making memories with the people around her, and her enthusiasm for life left a lasting impression on everyone blessed enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband Ronald “Ron” H. Bolesky II, children Jodi (Neal) Smith, Jill (Bob) Jenkins, and Dr. Philip (Bethany) Calendine, daughter-in-law Kara Calendine, fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and three sisters, Janet is preceded in death by her first husband Rudyard “Kip” Calendine and son Dr. Stephen Calendine.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, June 28, 2026 from 1 to 3 pm at Mansfield Alliance Church. A Celebration of Life service honoring Janet will begin immediately following. Pastor Dale Patrick and grandson Pastor Dawson Calendine will speak.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Janet’s honor to Raising Hope Ministries, at www.raisinghopeministries.com/donate, where her granddaughter Paige and her husband Josh are largely involved.
