David William Wotring, 84, of Crestline, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Altercare of Bucyrus.
David was born in East Liverpool, on February 14, 1942, to the late Edward Wotring and Mary (Childs) Bourne. He would marry Judith Maple on March 13, 1964, and they would share 48 years of loving marriage prior to her passing on April 13, 2012.
After graduating high school, David would enlist in the United States Army, where he would serve his Country Honorably, receiving the honors of marksman in several different weapons. After his time in the Army, David still enjoyed the camaraderie, so he became a lifetime member of the Crestline VFW Post 2920, where he would serve as Post Commander for three different terms, 1997-1998, 2004-2005, and 2005-2006.
Outside of his patriotic endeavors, David found great joy in the simple things in life and the hobbies he cherished. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. David also enjoyed spending time on the golf course, where he appreciated both the game and the camaraderie it brought. A talented and creative individual, he had a passion for art, painting, and woodworking, finding satisfaction in creating beautiful pieces and working with his hands.
Above all else, David enjoyed spending time with his loving family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Left to cherish David’s memory are his daughter, Lori (Jeff) Knapp of Galion; grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Morey, Chelsea (Daniel) Gerber, and Robert (Courtney Perry) Morris; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Kamryn, Sophia, Paityn, Isabella, Carley, and Gannon; siblings, Karen “Sue” Mobley of Wellsville and John (Judy) Bourne of Crestline; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and loving wife, David was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn “Butch” Anthony.
