With love, gratitude, and sadness, we announce the passing of Connie Smith, who entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on November 28, 1936, Connie lived a life defined by compassion, service, faith, and devotion to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend whose kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Connie dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery. Throughout her career, she had the privilege of helping welcome countless babies into the world, providing comfort and reassurance to families during some of life’s most meaningful moments. Her kindness, professionalism, and dedication made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

Outside of her nursing career, Connie had a lifelong passion for genealogy. She spent countless hours researching family history, preserving stories, and connecting generations through her discoveries. Her dedication to understanding and sharing her family’s heritage created a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit future generations.

Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Smith, who passed away on June 23, 2025. Their marriage was built on love, commitment, and faith, and their family was the center of their lives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Sue Gummere.

She is survived by her children, Michael Smith (Missie Stewart, who was her devoted caregiver), Vicki Smith (Dave Meier), and Becki (Rodney) Watson; her cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Andy Fahmy, and Sean and Ryan Watson; her siblings, Jennifer (Andy) Slaine and Gordon (Brenda) Gummere; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Connie will be remembered for her warmth, kind heart, unwavering faith, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she has been reunited with Richard and welcomed into God’s eternal embrace.

A devoted Christian, Connie was an active member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she found fellowship, purpose, and spiritual strength. Her faith was evident in the way she lived her life—with grace, humility, and a servant’s heart.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, hospice staff, friends, and loved
ones who provided comfort, compassion, and support during Connie’s final journey.
