Lowell F. Kline was born on July 16, 1939, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Charles B. and Violette (Yohn) Kline. He peacefully entered the presence of his Savior on June 13, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Neutzling), who was by his side for 67 years. Besides his parents, Mr. Kline is preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Richard Hanlon (Mansfield); Arlene and Richard Cates (Mansfield); brother-in-law Thomas Taft (Michigan); and son-in-law, Tom Anglea (Columbus).
When asked about his line of work, Mr. Kline loved to reply that he never worked a day in his life. Because of his love of his career as a tool and die designer, it never seemed like work. After many years with Therm-O-Disc in Mansfield, Lowell took a leap of faith and accepted a position in his beloved Colorado Springs, but family connection returned the Klines to Mansfield after only a short time. Lowell retired from Siemens in Urbana, Ohio, after building many relationships over his 50 years in the tool and die design business.
He and Barbara spent much time woodworking together, creating treasures, including cradles, rocking horses, hall trees, and entertainment centers. Always handy with a tool, Lowell worked with remarkable precision and was well known for measuring to within a sixteenth of an inch.
As an avid outdoorsman, Lowell enjoyed many hunting trips from Ohio to Kansas and South Dakota, and fishing outings on his beloved Lake Erie, Canadian waters, and later in the Florida Gulf Coast.
He owned a boat for much of his life and found great joy in fishing with family and friends or pulling his kids and grands around Norris Lake on skis and tubes, earning the title of Captain of the Crew. As a young Papa, he shared his love of water skiing with his grandchildren. The family’s favorite boat was lovingly dubbed Fellowship I, and Lowell used it as a ministry to others, always cultivating relationships.
Lowell taught his family the importance of faith, family, discipline, and service. He was known for his consistency and as someone you could count on. Being a man of God made him a man of principle. He was a positive thinker and always thought the best of others. It was a special treat for the family to see this so clearly during his recent hospital stays. Medical staff were readily available to him due to his kindness. His life exemplified Philippians 2:3-4: Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Church on Sunday was never questioned. The Klines served faithfully in numerous churches wherever the Lord placed them.
Family time around the table, for meals or games, was common. Lowell was always up for a game of cards, favoring Hand and Foot, Nines, Swipe, or Euchre. The friend circle in Florida gathered several times a week for some serious card competition, along with fellowship and fun. Oh, how he treasured those relationships.
Lowell’s legacy lives on in a loving family that will cherish his memory. He and Barbara raised three children: Kelly (Terry) Herbst of Columbus, Ohio; Michael (Cheryl) Kline of Canton, Ohio; and Lisa Anglea (the late Tom) of Westerville, Ohio.
He became Papa to eleven grandchildren, in whom Lowell took great pride, not just their accomplishments, but who they are personally: Brittany (Daniel) Magee, Aubrey (Nathan) Stone, Sarah (Zachary) Hess, Emily (Travis) McInerney, Lauren (Timothy) Wyszynski, Erin (Andrew) Jeunnette, Cassidy (Braden) Beals, Matthew (Liz) Anglea, Morgan (Jonathan) Roby, Braden (Sandy) Kline, Zachary (Marisol) Herbst.
The eleven grandchildren blessed him with the title “Big Papa” to 38 (and counting) great-grandchildren: Declan, Holden, Camden Magee; Jackson, Maddox, Briggs, Nash Stone; Annie, Lucy, Emma, William, Maggie McInerney, Walter, Ruthie, Edwin, Wyatt, Nellie Beals; Baby Herbst in September; Collins, Beckham, Cooper, Conley, Baylor Wyszynski; Lincoln, Grayson, Griffin, Remi Jeunnette; Madeline, Chloe, Kennedy Roby; Weston, Lennon, Emerson Kline; Jacob, Caroline, Katherine, Luke Hess; John Thomas and Ellie Anglea.
Also surviving are a sister, Nancy Taft of Michigan; a brother-in-law, William Neutzling of Florida; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and Jim Hintz of Norwalk, Ohio, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Lowell was a special man who brought joy and laughter to those he met – and a stranger was just someone he had not yet met. He will be remembered, deeply missed, and forever loved by all those blessed to know him. As believers in Christ, we have hope because we know he is in heaven and that we will see him again.
