Daniel Jeremiah Garza, also known as Daniel Jeremiah Day, age 48, passed on Saturday, June 6, 2026, of natural causes.

Daniel was born on August 5, 1977, in Mansfield, OH, the son of Thomas M. and Dana K. (Dillon) Day. Daniel grew up the second of six children.

Daniel is survived by his parents, his beloved girlfriend Shanna Roy of Mansfield, and his two sons, Eric Lee Mays of Mansfield and his minor-aged son Jeremiah L. Garza. He is also survived by his 3 brothers, David Israel Day of Georgia, Samuel Elijah Day of Oklahoma, Jonathan Michael I. Day of Virginia, and his sister, Rachel E. Robertson of Mansfield, and their families, as well as the family of his sister who preceded him in death, Sarah Abigail Bittman. He leaves eight nieces and nephews and several very long-time friends.

Daniel had attended Madison Comprehensive High School, and later in life, he successfully kept good grades as he acquired college credits in several Business courses. Daniel was 6′ 4″, which made him a valuable employee at several places he worked. Daniel worked primarily in the Mansfield and surrounding areas. He had many dreams and potential business ideas he wanted to pursue. The list was quite long.

Daniel was a very creative individual at heart and would create things like origami flowers and hemp rope jewelry. He collected art that he liked and made his own improvements on art he didn’t like at first. Daniel also liked to repair and make use of things that were being given away for free.

He liked to read in-depth and study about topics of interest to him. He studied often and strongly believed in all natural forms of medicine.

He liked to organize absolutely everything he collected. Together with Shanna, he enjoyed collecting beautiful rocks. Some rocks he tumbled and polished. He also wanted to try out gold panning as well. He liked to grow all sorts of flowers and plants in gardens and in planters anytime he could. As someone who hated cold weather, besides his hobbies, in the winter he enjoyed watching “Rick and Morty” on television.

He found joy in all aspects of nature (with the exception of winter) and was happiest when he was out enjoying nature in the summer. He especially enjoyed sitting under the stars by a fire at the family fire pit.

A memorial celebration of Daniel Jeremiah’s life will be held by the family at an undetermined future date (possibly even in a year from now), to include all the family members. The plans are for time spent in nature, and a nighttime gathering around the family burn pit to share stories about Daniel Jeremiah “Jere”. If you would like to be included, please inform the family along with your contact information.
