Timothy R. Alexander, age 84, of Lucas, passed away at home on June 4, 2026. Tim was a practicing architect and community leader for more than 50 years. An ardent follower of the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, he left his mark on countless homes, civic and governmental buildings, and medical facilities in the North Central Ohio area. He was the son of Mary (White) Alexander of Lucas.
Tim was a proud graduate of Lucas High School and the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Following college graduation, he served two years in the U.S. Army before returning to Ohio to start his family and career. Tim belonged to the American Institute of Architects and the Architectural Society of Ohio. He served as a member of the Richland County Transit Board, the Richland County Board of Elections, the Lucas Board of Education, The Mansfield Jaycees, and was chairman of the Richland County Republican Party for 14 years. In addition, he played a large part in bringing movies back to downtown Mansfield by reopening the Madison Theatre, a precursor to the Renaissance Theatre.
He loved traveling with his family, discovering great restaurants, and remained a devoted, long-suffering Cleveland sports fan throughout his life. He was a hilarious and intelligent man, a loving husband, a great father, and a sweet grandfather.
Tim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne (Valentine) Alexander whom he married June 26, 1965; as well as his daughters Jennifer (James) Macchione of Chicago and Sara Alexander of Detroit. Also surviving are his grandchildren Salvatore and Stella Macchione, sister Nancy (Darrell) Niswander, and many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends Tuesday, June 9, 2026 from 11 am – 12 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society.
