HURON TOWNSHIP — A Wisconsin man was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a motorcycle in a crash that involved two vehicles, according to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Richard Hartnell, 56, Kenosha, Wisconsin, suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the incident, the Patrol report stated.
The crash took place at 10:10 p.m. on U.S. Route 250 near Fox Road in Huron Township, Erie County.
The preliminary investigation determined Hartnell was attempting to walk across U.S. Route 250, where he was struck by a northbound Harley Davison motorcycle, operated James Ritzenthaler, 66, of Fremont. Hartnell was then struck by a Toyota RAV4, operated by Andre Luckie, 35, of Norwalk.
Ritzenthaler received minor injuries and was treated on scene, the Patrol stated. Luckie was not injured.
The OSHP was assisted by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Perkins Township Police Department, Huron Fire Department, Erie County Coroner’s Office and Wilsons Towing and Repair.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
