Victoria Lynn Mergel, age 63, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away on May 31, 2026, at OhioHealth Mansfield. She was born Nov. 30, 1962, in Mansfield, Ohio to Leland and Lavalla Sue (Reiter) Porch.

Victoria graduated from Ontario High School in 1981 and earned her LPN from North Central State College at the top of her class. She worked faithfully at Gionino’s Pizzeria for more than 20 years, where her dedication and warm spirit touched many lives.

Victoria was known for her wit, Christ-like character, gentleness, kindness, selflessness, humility, and generosity; all attributes which she instilled in all of her children and grandchildren. She had a grateful and thoughtful heart, a deep love for her family, and always put their needs before her own.

She had a way of lighting up every room she entered and found great joy in God’s creation. An avid animal lover, she shared a special bond with every animal she met. Some of her happiest moments were spent fishing and camping with her grandchildren. She especially cherished playing games with them, including Don’t Break the Ice and Nerf Wars.

Victoria enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, playing games, and spending time with loved ones. She never missed an opportunity to admire a beautiful sunset, often exclaiming, “Look at that sky!” Bingo and scratch-off tickets were among her favorite pastimes.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She loved reading the Bible and treasured both her church family and home church community. Victoria celebrated the accomplishments of her family with great pride and was a devoted supporter of her grandchildren, faithfully attending and cheering them on at their various activities.

Victoria is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Mergel; son, Josh (Jessica) Mergel; daughters, Heather (Jay) Nagy, Kandace (Cody) Risner, Crystal (Eric) Faulds; mother, Lavalla Sue Porch, mother-in-law, Donna Joan Mergel; 12 grandchildren, Noah, Ruth, Lily, Ashton, Theo, Auggie, Elijah, Eli, Gracie, Liam, Calvin, and Ella, 4 sisters, Becky (Thomas Dugan) Porch, Kim (John) Berger, Kristina (Roger) Nelson, and Lori (Jamie) Gobble; many nieces and nephews; cousins; very close relatives; and life-long friends.
