Gary “Butch” Allen Smith, 81, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026. He was born on February 10, 1945, to the late Walter and Maxine Smith.
He had a true passion for working with his hands, enjoying repairing lawn mowers and cars in his spare time. Gary cherished his time with his beloved cat, Luna, and took great pride tending to his garden each year. Retiring from Komatsu Dresser, a longtime member of Galion Moose Lodge #177, he was a familiar and valued presence in his community.
He deeply loved country music and dancing with his beloved wife, Patty. Together they shared a love of travel and long drives on the open road.
Gary is survived by his children, Gary (Kim) Smith, Keith (Stefanie) Smith and Mike (Cindy) Fyffe and Connie Kent; six grandchildren, Maggie Smith, Jacob “Jake” Smith, Austin Smith, Macey Smith, Kaley Smith, and Alissa Smith; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Conn and Marcia “Sue” Mast; a brother, Terry “Tom” Smith and many cherished family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his wife, Patty Smith; son, Scott Smith; a grandson, Stephen Fyffe and a sister, Linda Smith.
A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 5, 2026, in Vermillion Cemetery.
