Charles Wesley Carter Jr., age 62, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on May 25, 2026 at the OSU Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born on January 26, 1964 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Mary L. Tackett and Charles Wesley Carter Sr. He married Paula Hinton and together they shared many loving years.
Charles loved fishing, the outdoors, karaoke, jingle writing, listening to music, swimming, spending time with loved ones and his dog Oscar.
His proudest achievements were his children. He was known for his carefree spirit, and having a knack for making people laugh. He was naturally funny and always joking around. He could turn anything into a freestyle or song without even trying. His humor, creativity and easy-going personality made people enjoy being around him, and he had a way of bringing light to whatever room he was in.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Carter; four children, Maria Carter, Charles Wesley Carter III, Eric Carter and Chloe Carter; eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to sincerely thank everyone for the love, prayers, support, calls, messages and acts of kindness shown during this difficult time. Your support and compassion have meant more to us than words can’t express.
A remembrance gathering will be held on Monday, June 29 from 3PM to 7 PM at Kindred Kove 1710 Lorkay Dr, Mansfield, OH 44905.
