Kyle Shane Baughn, 55, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 20, 1970, in Findlay, to Ruthellen (Baughn) Yildiz.
Kyle graduated from Van Buren High School as a member of the Class of 1988. He graduated from Defiance College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He continued his education at University of Dayton, receiving a Master of Science in Education and Allied Professions. Dedicated to lifelong learning and leadership in education, Kyle also achieved his principal licensure and earned certification as a Certified Athletic Administrator, reflecting his deep commitment to students, athletics, and his profession.
He dedicated his career to education and student development through many years of service in Ohio schools. He began as a math teacher at Ridgemont Local Schools and later taught mathematics at New Lexington City Schools. He continued his career with Galion City Schools, where he served as a math teacher at Galion Middle and High School, assistant principal at Galion Middle School, assistant principal at Galion High School, and athletic director at Galion High School. He later served as athletic director for Cardington-Lincoln Local Schools, where he continued to positively impact students, athletes, and staff through his leadership and dedication.
On June 4, 1994, Kyle married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Beth” (Burris) Baughn. Together they built a life filled with unwavering love, laughter, partnership, and cherished memories. Through every joy and challenge, Beth was Kyle’s greatest companion and closest friend, and their marriage stood as a beautiful example of devotion, strength, and enduring love.
Kyle’s dedication to education and athletics extended far beyond the classroom. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was an especially devoted fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes football and rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on the Buckeyes each season. He was a passionate coach and mentor, serving as a head varsity coach in track, football, and wrestling, while also dedicating many years as an assistant varsity coach in football, wrestling, and track. Beyond his professional roles, Kyle generously volunteered his time with youth sports programs and Boy Scouts of America, where he proudly served as Advancement Chairman for the Johnny Appleseed Trail District, leaving a lasting impact on countless young people and families throughout the communities he served.
Above all else, Kyle treasured the time he spent with his family. Some of his happiest memories were made on family vacations, gathered around the table playing board games, enjoying summer cookouts, and sitting beside a campfire sharing stories and laughter. He found the greatest joy in simply being together with those he loved most, creating memories that his family will cherish forever.
