James .C Beal, age 82, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on May 15, 2026 at home following a battle with cancer. He was born on October 9, 1943 in Mansfield, Ohio the son of the late Claremont and Grace (Hosler) Beal. He married Tabby Beal, and together they shared 31 years.

James had worked for 20 years at Westinghouse and loved becoming an electrician. He served in the US Navy following high school then retired as SMSgt in the 179th Air National Guard after spending 25 years in the military.

He was a member of the Amvets Post #26, VFW Post #9943 in American Legion Post #16. His most fond memory was his trip to Australia and seeing the world, he also loved reading and his three dogs, Roxy, Mia and Kami.

He has survived by his wife, Tabby Beal; son, Shawn Beal; two daughters, Stephanie Beal and Janice Taylor; stepdaughter, Brandy ( Rob) Huss; sisters, Georgia (Ronald) Bacquet of Lexington, Kentucky, Nancy (Richard) Henkel of Princeton, New Jersey and Cheryol Miller of Mansfield; sisters-in-law, Mary (Matt) McGuire of Mansfield and Carol Frank of Mansfield; brother-in-law, Mike (Michelle) Lybarger of Mansfield; mother-in-law, Joanne Dunn; 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Jim Miller and Michael Culbertson and father-in-law R.G. Dunn..

A military graveside service will be held for family and friends at Mansfield Cemetery on Saturday, June 6 at 11 AM. Military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail and the 179th CW Honor Guard Team. Memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice or to the Veterans Association.
