Zonia Gundrum, 90, of Crestline, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. She was born on July 17, 1935, in Harlan, Kentucky, and spent her life dedicated to her family and her community.
Zonia graduated from high school and went on to have a successful career as a manager at the Crestline YMCA Restaurant. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her work; she was a devoted member of the Crestline Church of Christ, where she made cherished memories with her church family.
Zonia was a spirited individual who enjoyed gardening, with a particular love for flowers that brought beauty to her home. She also had a keen sense of style, taking joy in shopping for clothes, jewelry, shoes, and purses, always ensuring she looked her best. Her love for dogs was a source of joy in her life, as they accompanied her through many years of shared companionship.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David Gundrum; her son, Terry (Cindy) Surgener, her granddaughters, Brittney (Steven) Waite, Amy (Ricky) White, her great-grandchildren; Audrey, Joseph “Joey”, Stevie, Layla, Alexandria, and many nieces and nephews.
Zonia was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Surgener, her brother, Arnold Lundy, and two sisters, Zella Miller and Patsy Stewart, along with her faithful companion, a chihuahua, Boo.
The family will observe a private funeral service.
