Linda Katherine Smith, 74, of Crestline passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 19, 2026, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Linda was born in Aylesbury, England on April 22, 1952, to the late Delbert and Mildred (Sauer) Welker.

Linda graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1970 before continuing her education at The Ohio State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education in 1974. Never one to stop learning, she later achieved her Master’s Degree in Education from Marygrove College in 2003 at the age of 51. Linda dedicated 30 years to teaching at Crestline Exempted Village School District, where she touched the lives of countless students throughout her career. Most recently, she was working at First United Methodist Church of Crestline, where she was also a longtime member.

On June 23, 1979, she married Jon Smith, and together they began their life with a memorable adventure. Due to the gas crisis at the time, the couple traded their hoped-for honeymoon destination of Myrtle Beach for a trip to Kings Island, a story that would become a cherished memory and a reflection of their ability to make the best of any circumstance together.

Linda found joy in many hobbies and pastimes throughout her life. She loved crafting, especially counted cross stitch, sewing, latch hook, and knitting. She also enjoyed reading, watching sports, and cheering on her favorite teams, including the Ohio State Buckeyes football, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cincinnati Reds.

Above all else, Linda cherished her family. She found tremendous happiness in watching her children grow into successful adults and deeply treasured the time she spent with her beloved grandchildren.

Linda’s memories will be cherished by her children: Jana (Nick) Immel of Sugarcreek, and Brett (Shannon) Smith of Delaware, sister: Debra (James) Lammons of Texas; grandchildren: Jalyn Immel, Sienna Immel, Avery Immel, Stella Smith, and Knox Smith; and countless friends.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the time of the Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 202 North Thoman St., Crestline, with Rev. Jenny Whitmore officiating. The family has chosen a private family burial.
