David Fieldon Thompson Jr, age 54, of Mansfield unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2026. He was born on August 9, 1971, in Mansfield to David Sr and Susan (Stimens) Thompson.

David was a man who could build anything with his hands and vision. Whether it was creating something from scratch or spending countless hours rebuilding his home, he took pride in every project he touched. He had a deep love for the simple joys in life – casting a fishing line, cracking open an ice-cold beer after a long day, and hitting an open road in search of his next adventure; Making memories wherever life took him. David also had a special place in his heart for his chickens and could often be found caring for them with pride. Music brought him peace, and he loved spending time playing his guitar. Above all else, David’s greatest joy was his family. He deeply loved whole heartedly. His laughter, stories, adventurous spirit, and love will forever be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, daughter, Kymberly Stanley (EJ) of Mansfield; son, Jordan Thompson of Mansfield; and their mother, his former wife, Denise Miller of Mansfield; grandchildren, Lucas, Savannah, and Aubrie Stanley of Mansfield; nephew, Blake McWilliams of Mansfield; nieces, Destany Hale (Tim) of Mansfield; Ariel Burkey (Gary) of Mansfield; great nieces, Kinzleigh, Lakelynn, Remi Sue Hale of Mansfield; great nephew, Tucker Hale of Mansfield; stepsister, Betty (Harriger) Stevens of Mansfield; aunt, Debbie Stimens of Mansfield; uncle, Joe Stimens (Thelma) of Mansfield; Cousins: Rhonda Thompson (Darrel) Logan of Morehead, KY; Sandra Thompson (Paul) of Morehead, KY; Steve (Casey) Dailey of Morehead, KY; best friend, Brian Bond (Jodi, JB) of Mansfield; other close friends, Jay Hollar (Colten, Austyn) of Mansfield; Robbie (Trish) Patton of Mansfield; along with many other loving friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his loving father and mother, David Sr and Susan (Stimens) Thompson; and sister, Heather Thompson.

Final resting place; Thompson Cemetery in Morehead, Kentucky.

Private services will be held for immediate family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
